The Charities

The United Way

By purchasing this CD the Jefferson County United Way, helps to feed our hungry and helps our children to grow and develop. Seniors are assisted to live independently and with dignity. You help local people gain skills for a better job and in times of disaster, your gift provides food, clothing, and shelter for those suddenly faced with tragic losses.

Fifteen local agencies receive funding from the Jefferson County United Way. In addition, United Way provides resources and opportunities to all of our member agencies to reduce operating expenses and improve efficiency. All the partners and agencies working with United Way understand that each dollar received must make the greatest possible positive impact on the community.

THE KDH HOSPICE PROGRAM

Hospice is specialized care for patients with a terminal illness. The approach to care is palliative (pain control and comfort) rather than curative (trying to cure the disease). In most cases, being at home provides the patient a chance to spend more time with family and share special memories. We believe Hospice is a celebration of life. Each life is a special gift and holds its own unique story. Hospice allows the patient and their family a chance to focus on the life they have shared. Hospice volunteers help care for the individual and family. Counselors provide answers and support.
